SUMMARY:Campaign for Compassionate Cities Brainstorm 3
DESCRIPTION:The Compassionate Action Network is expanding rapidly and
strengthening many key relationships. It's time to take the next steps
on our global collaboration of a Compassionate Cities initiative.\nOu
r work on Compassionate Seattle was essential to inform our preliminar
y thinking on what is required to create a compassionate city; we are
certainly beginners!\n\nHere is a quick summary:\n• We successfully
completed the Seattle 10 Year Campaign that that led to the joint proc
lamation and charter for compassion affirmation by the Mayor and the C
ity Council\n• We co-hosted and debriefed the April 24th Compassiona
te Seattle: It's Up to Us! event\n• We engaged in a retreat with our
board of stewards and advisors\n• We hosted Karma Tshiteem, the sec
retary of the Gross National Happiness Index Commission from Bhutan\nâ
€¢ We have started a Compassion Response Team to evolve community-base
d responses to conflicts and crises.\n• We are now ready to focus on
strengthening this network of individuals, groups, and organizations
interested in a global collaboration focused on creating Compassionate
Cities.\n\nThere is plenty of overlap on our joint creations, thank y
ou for your participation and making all this happen.\n\nWHAT DOES A N
ETWORK OF COMPASSIONATE CITIES LOOK LIKE?\nI propose that we have thre
e 90 minute brainstorming sessions, using GoToMeeting, in which we co-
create our vision, mission, and plan for Compassionate Cities for this
year. You are welcome to participate in as many calls as you want to.
(If you have been on these calls you know that I'm a mind mapper, so
we will keep a shared record of what gets brainstormed. We will also r
ecord the calls so if anyone wants to view and listen to them afterwar
ds.)\n\nGLOBAL TIME ZONES ARE TRICKY\nTo accommodate the variety of ti
me zones I'm proposing three calls, at very different times. Times sho
wn are in Pacific Standard Time\nWednesday June 23 at 1 PM PST\nThursd
ay June 24 at 8 AM PST\nThursday June 24 at 7 PM PST\n\n\n1. Please jo
in my meeting.\n\n\n2. Use your microphone and speakers (VoIP) - a hea
dset is recommended. Or, call in using your telephone.\n\nDial 312-878
