Event Description

Our final Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life reading group has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 15th. We'll be discussing the final Twelfth Step: Love Your Enemies.

Compassionate Action Network has been hosting a special reading group to study Karen Armstrong’s Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life, meeting every third Wednesday at East West Bookshop since early in 2011.

As part of an international effort to activate the Golden Rule globally, Compassionate Action Network joins reading groups around the world to foster a greater understanding of compassion, and to promote the cultivation and practice of compassion in individual and community life.

TED prize-winner Karen Armstrong believes that while compassion is intrinsic in all human beings, each of us needs to work diligently to cultivate and expand our capacity for compassion. In Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life, Armstrong offers concrete ways of putting compassion into action in our everyday lives.

Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life Reading Groups are affiliated with the Charter for Compassion. The Charter for Compassion is a TED Prize project in collaboration with the Fetzer Institute.

I plan to be there for the Grand Finale but need to keep my rsvp tentative in case of unexpected family needs. Thanks Roselle!
