SUMMARY:Circle of Compassion: Studying and Applying the Charter for Co
 mpassion
DESCRIPTION:In response to a polarized, turbulent world which so often
stresses differences, the Charter for Compassion is bringing together
voices from all cultures and spiritual/faith communities to remind th
e world that we all share the same core principle of compassion. The c
harter is the “wish” of Karen Armstrong, one of the most provocati
ve, original thinkers on the role of religion in the modern world. Arm
strong won the 2008 TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) award
which granted her a \"wish to change the world.” Her wish was to res
tore the Golden Rule as central to religious practice and daily life t
hroughout the world. The principle of Golden Rule is embraced by every
faith and by every moral code, religious or otherwise and suggests th
at we act toward others as we would want them to act toward us.\n\nJoi
n Charter for Compassion supporters in delving deeper into the meaning
of the Charter. Read and discuss books by key authors of the Charter
for Compassion, including Karen Armstrong and Joan Chittister. Support
each participant’s most selfish and self-satisfying journey inward,
which is to be kind to self and others! Share stories, means and poss
ibilities in building a compassion movement!\n\nhttp://my.compassionat
