Day of Prayer for World Peace: Spirit of Assisi
A Creative Interfaith Celebration - In The Spirit of Assisi - with Special Appearance by St Francis (aka Joshua Liljenstolpe)
Let us come together to renew our commitment to peace in the world
Vatican II urged us to take our faith into the world in 1964
In 1986 religious leaders of all faiths gathered in Assisi to pray for world peace
Today, 25 years later, it is up to us to take the interfaith Spirit of Assisi to a new level
WHAT: Interfaith Service to Renew the Spirit of Assisi ~ 25th Anniversary
WHEN: Thursday, October 27, 2011; 7:00 p.m. - Reception to Follow (please bring cookies)
WHERE: St Patrick Church - 2702 Broadway Avenue E, Seattle, WA 98102
- You are invited to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of that great day, October 27, 1986, when religious leaders from around the world met in Assisi to pray for world peace.
- Assisi was selected as the venue for that occasion because of St. Francis’ inspiring stories of love, courage and commitment to promote peace across the lines of faith, culture and politics.
- St. Francis "incarnated those high aspects of humanity, simplicity, humility" that enable people to recognize each other as brothers and sisters and to see all of creation as the work of the same hands that made them.

i will also be there in spirit. i will meditate and pray at 7 p.m. Thursday alone or with friends. i will also share this event with friends and kindred spirits.
