ght Center for Spiritual Living of Lake Oswego will host the 2nd Annua
l International Forgiveness Day Celebration and will honor James O’D
ea with the “Champion of Forgiveness” award, which Marianne Willia
mson received in 2009. O’Dea spent June and July 2010 in Israel/Pale
stine and Rwanda on a Kalliopeia Foundation-funded project with Dr. Ju
dith Thompson, bringing together warring groups in both regions for co
nflict resolution and peacemaking sessions. His peace and reconciliati
on work has taken him all over the world and he has also spent decades
leading organizations such as Amnesty International and IONS (founded
by Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell). O’Dea recently published Cr
eative Stress: A Path for Evolving Souls Living through Personal and P
lanetary Upheaval, offering a fresh take on stress and how it can be s
een as our greatest teacher.\n\n***\n\nDetails regarding the Worldwide
Forgiveness Alliance: The Worldwide Forgiveness Alliance is a nonprof
it organization dedicated to the principle that teaching forgiveness a
nd nonviolence are forces for peace, physical healing and psychologica
l equilibrium. The Worldwide Forgiveness Alliance seeks to prove that
creating the “life skills of forgiveness and nonviolence” will red
uce conflict and violence, alleviate stress, improve health and create
a more abundant and empowered perspective on life. The Worldwide Forg
iveness Alliance is also presently conducting forgiveness seminars for
abused women, the elderly and to middle school youth.\nFounded in 199
6 by Executive Director, Robert W. Plath, one of the primary goals is
to establish International Forgiveness Day as a globally celebrated ho
liday. International Forgiveness Day, annually, is designated as the f
irst Sunday in August. Last year, various groups in 20 U.S. cities and
9 countries held events celebrating International Forgiveness Day. Th
e focus of the International Forgiveness Day celebration is to honor t
hose identified as Heroes and Champions of Forgiveness, Nonviolence an
d Peace. These people exemplify the power and benefits of the healing
power and benefits of forgiveness and nonviolence. They also serve as
outstanding role models, which are so desperately needed.\nAnd from ht
