Veterans lead the nation in homelessness, depression, substance abuse and suicide. The Abe Keller Peace Education Fund's annual meeting focuses on these issues that affect us all because returning veterans are part of our community. Our three speakers are:
*Evan Kanter, MD, PhD, psychiatrist and neuroscientist specializing in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder.
*Seth Manzel, Director of the G.I. Coffeehouse "Coffee Strong" on the edge of Fort Lewis that supports veterans and those in the military with G.I. rights counseling and advocacy.
*Sara Reed, MSW, currently pursuing an MPH degree at UW. Her thesis is entitled Who Gets Left Behind: Adolescent Well-Being in Military Families.
CAN International Institute supports compassionate initiatives in cities, towns, counties, states and provinces, regions, nations, universities, faith groups, schools, service groups, and other places where human beings gather.
