Love Offering
Bring a non-perishable food item for the food bank. Charitable giving is traditional on these precious nights.
*Lailat al Miraj is Prophet Mohammad's Night Journey when, accompanied by Angel Gabriel, the Prophet was transported from Mecca to Jerusalem and ascended to heaven. (6/28/11)
**Lailat al Bara'ah(Shab-Barat) is the Night of Forgiveness, where prayers to God are offered throughout the night especially remembering those who have passed away. It is an evening of intense prayer to prepare for Ramadan's month of fasting. (7/15/11) Ramadan in 2011 is August 1st --29th (approx.)
*** Lailat ul-Qadr Islamic Night of Destiny. The first revelation of Qur'an to Prophet Mohammed. Observed during the last ten days of Ramadan. Prayers are offered to Allah for a good destiny. (8/26/11)
[Please Note: the dates of these days change every year. Although the dates have already passed for 2011, we have chosen to continue a tradition begun in 2010 to offer special evenings focused upon Forgiveness. We draw from the loving energies of these important Islamic observances, International Forgiveness Day and the Jewish HIgh Holy Days. Also Christian Lammas - first fruits / harvest -- Celtic Tradition.]
