DESCRIPTION:The Universal Worship is offered on the first Sunday each 
 month in the Sanctuary of Interfaith Community Church beginning at Noo
 n and concluding at 1:00pm.\n\nThe Universal Worship celebrates the un
 ity and equality of all religious faiths on one altar by lighting cand
 les to represent the diversity of faiths and offering prayers to honor
  all religions.\n\nThis service was instituted in the early 20th centu
 ry by Hazrat Inayat Khan as a way to join in worship with all the prop
 hets of humanity.\n\nA Cherag (from the Persian word for “lamp”) f
 acilitates this service which often includes scriptural readings and s
 piritual practices from various traditions.\n\nMichael Douglas has bee
 n a student of Sufism for 15 years and of world religions for many mor
 e. He is a Cherag (minister) in the Sufi Order International and a tea
 ching initiate in the Mevlevi Order of America. He is devoted to explo
 ring the paths of sacred art and music in a contemporary context. He c
 urrently works as a stonemason and teaches religious history to middle
