Please join me and help me spread the word about a Silent Vigil which will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at West Lake Park in Downtown Seattle (4th and Pine) from noon to 6:00 pm.
This Silent Vigil is a non-political act of memorial to honor the men and women who have taken their own lives in response to the trauma of war and its aftermath. The suicide of enlisted men and women from all wars is a national tragedy. We hold this Silent Vigil also to express concern and care for their families and loved ones.
Whether veteran or civilian, we will identify our intention to maintain silence by wearing an armband of any color, or simply rolling up a sleeve. People may enter and exit the vigil at any time. Taps will be played every 30 minutes. Similar Vigils will be held in many other locations across the nation, including Central Park in New York City.
If you know anyone who is connected with a Veteran’s organization (Veterans for Peace, IVAW, VFW, Vet Centers, etc.) please pass this message along to their members, with the attached flier. We need to spread the word quickly to all who wish to participate. This event is co-sponsored by Soldier’s Heart Seattle and Interfaith Community Church.
CAN International Institute supports compassionate initiatives in cities, towns, counties, states and provinces, regions, nations, universities, faith groups, schools, service groups, and other places where human beings gather.
