Compassionate Seattle

Hello Co-conveners!

Here is a draft of our 1st Action Steps as a result of our Communicopia discussion last Thursday. It's very short, just 1 1/2 pages, and doesn't contain all of our comments, but is more of a summary of action steps that seemed to have some consensus among us or resonated with many of the motivating factors that bring all of us to the table.

What do you think? Does this reflect what you heard? Does it make you think or feel more in any direction?

Add your comments to this discussion and we'll talk about it more at our next gathering in December. You'll be hearing from Martha soon about that. -Julia

I would like us to think of how to capture our conversations ongoing, so we retain for all of us collectively the key points that are made. There were so many rich and inspiring statements made when we had our dinner, and they are not captured in the summary.

How best can we do this? Maybe seek some college student (s) who want to come and document our meetings?

Things that stand out as missing for me are comments such as;
-we are really talking about a change in consciousness
-we want our work to include action and reflection in an ongoing way, so we are challenging ourselves and what we are doing
-our work must be cross race and cross class
-we need to start with outreach and broaden this group

I'm sure other points stood out for others - maybe if we all add the things said that are most stirring for us, we can collecting create a more vivid picture?

sincerely, Bonnie
Thanks Julia,

I was sorry not to be at the communicopia. Do you think it would be helpful to see the organizational draft that you first presented - or would it be better to just wait until the adapted version comes out?

Take care,
Karma
Here is a quick peek at the draft Action Steps that Julia posted and attached above. What do you have fire in your belly for?

Karma- The changes from the draft presented are pretty significant. They involve NOT getting into so much detail at this point and setting a loose structure that can develop as we develop. That said, for transparency's sake, I've attached the version we used for the discussion on Nov 11th.
