Comment by Kevin McKouen on June 12, 2011 at 12:22am Hello,
First, Don't forget, anyone coming to the meeting on Tuesday, try to think of at least 3 organizations or communities (with a contact) which would be interested in working with the Compassionate Response Network (including, but not limited to, the Restorative Circles node).
Please see the attached below for the merged documents for the questionnaires. As requested, this is a complete list of all questions, with repeated questions left out (I attached a word version, and a pdf file for those who do not have word). I plan to put out my own revised version sometime before our meeting, and invite the same from others.

Who wrote down the "meeting notes" from the previous meetings??
They are fantastic! Reading through them, I almost feel like I was there... Lots of good information there.
I am hoping to get a merged inquiry document out this evening for people's perusal before our meeting on Tuesday.
Hope y'all are having a good weekend! (Andrea B, in the end, I was not able to make this month's RC training, but will be sure to make it to one in the next couple months!)

We are scheduling the next meeting, please find below a preliminary agenda and a link to a doodle scheduling poll.
Link: http://doodle.com/qu2ttcw62xxctb37
Preliminary Agenda for this meeting is as follows.
First 30 minutes (0:00 - 0:30): Discuss general topics, goals, etc. for both the RC and the CRN (since both groups are heavily related and have very similar goals).
Next hour (0:30 - 1:30): Split into two smaller groups (RC and CRN). In this hour, each group works on defining specific actions to be taken to reach these goals.
Last 30 minutes (1:30 - 2:00): Come back together, brief each other on next steps to ensure we are working toward common goals and not creating redundant work.
Peace and Love,
Kevin

Comment by Jon Ramer on May 17, 2011 at 12:56pm Hello all! We are holding a training in Restorative Circles on Saturday March 26th. Hope you can come and learn this practice. Here is the info:
Would you enjoy more peace and harmony in your family, community, or organization?
A "Restorative Circle" is a restorative justice practice that empowers communities to deal with conflicts in a way that efficiently and effectively meets the needs of those involved and deepens connections among its members. Restorative Circles harness the generative wisdom and shared power of community. The facilitated process supports people to step into important and bold conversations with safety.
Developed in Brazil by Dominic Barter, this practice is used in a wide range of groups, organizations, schools, court systems, communities, workplaces, and families around the world. Restorative systems and restorative circles are emerging in Seattle, Bainbridge Island, Vashon Island, and surrounding communities. In the immediate aftermath of a Seattle police officer's fatal shooting of John T. Williams, a First Nations wood carver, Police Chief John Diaz and top department officials engaged in a restorative circle with the grieving family and community leaders. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2014113565_diazrepo...
The restorative circle training for March 26th will allow you to explore this practice for yourself and, if you like it, consider participating as a leader in establishing restorative systems in your own communities. It provides participants with the experience and support to embrace conflict in a way that deepens connections, empowers all individuals, and builds strength of community. In this workshop, we dive deeply into the restorative circle practice, provide foundation for the elements and purpose of each part of the process, and create a supportive environment within which participants engage in hands-on facilitation. We also guide participants in considering the adoption of restorative circle systems in their own communities and provide practical support for that process.
Please register for the workshops at http://www.spiritualliving.org/classes or in person at Center for Spiritual Living Seattle.
COST: $75 per person if registered by March 20th, $95 after. DISCOUNTS to $55 per person for early registration of groups of two or more.**
We're also offering a FREE introduction to restorative circles on Sunday, March 20th from 1-3pm (love offerings to support our work and help meet expenses joyously accepted, but not required).
These sessions will be facilitated by Andrea Brenneke and Karl Steyaert.
Andrea is a passionate advocate for justice and facilitator of individual and community healing and empowerment. She practices civil rights and employment law at MacDonald Hoague & Bayless in Seattle and is a certified mediator. She also is a licensed practitioner with the United Centers for Spiritual Living, Seattle. Andrea has been facilitating restorative circles since 2010.
Karl is passionate about co-creating learning experiences and communities that contribute to peace, justice, and sustainability. As a Certified Trainer in Nonviolent Communication (NVC), he has led trainings in conflict resolution and communication since 2003, and has been facilitating Restorative Circles since 2009.
For more information about the work of Dominic Barter, please visit his website: www.restorativecircles.org.
FOR MORE INFORMATION please contact Andrea Brenneke at abrenneke@gmail.com or 206.696.1843.
** Because a restorative circle works best as part of an established and ongoing restorative justice system, we encourage two or more individuals from a community or organization to take the workshop, learn to facilitate, and support one another in the establishment of a system that works for their own community.
CAN International Institute supports compassionate initiatives in cities, towns, counties, states and provinces, regions, nations, universities, faith groups, schools, service groups, and other places where human beings gather.
