An Action Plan is a reframing strategy for training adults to mentor/coach youth with a specific decision making strategy that does not polorize people into adversary and conflict. The adult mentor/coach is the intervention point that facilitates a small change that produces the co-creative solution for a large change with an exponential effect through peer education. This is a remarkable contribution. For those of us adults who want be effective mentors to our youth I invite us to read and reflect on what Patricia has offered here.
As a retired teacher and, now, a volunteer teacher in Honduras, I have very often asked myself this question: Can values, morality, compassion be taught? Rather, is compassion an innate quality? I have labored, along with their family units, to raise a child's compassionate awareness only to end up with a psychopath on my hands. On the other hand, I have seen children grow up "wild" with literally no guidance who became kind, caring, and compassionate productive adults. It's a mystery.
