I am from England and I joined because I am in Seattle 1st to 5th Nov and John Ramer suggested maybe I can give a talk if some members could provide a venue. Not fussed about the audience can be at someone's house. The talk would be on Green Spirituality based on my book. I am not into making money, fame or selling books just want to get a debate going about spirituality and the environment. Hallo,
My name is Chris Philpott and I am touring around your wonderful country between September and November 2012 taking in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlanta, New Orleans, Memphis, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles and visiting their universities and green groups. I am arriving in Seattle 30th and leaving for Vancouver on 5th November.
I am a recently published author and my book “Green Spirituality- one answer to global environmental problems and world poverty” has been published by the American publisher Authorhouse. Green Spirituality presents the green values of twelve spiritual traditions, explores their relationship with six global issues of environment and social justice, and overviews innovative solutions to be found around the world, especially in the United States. My research has revealed green values equate well with spiritual values. More details of my book can be found at www.greenspirituality.org and on the attached flyer.
In this presidential election year I am sure there will be a lot of debate about how values affect environmental problems found in America today and also their impact on the growing disparity of wealth between rich and poor. I wish to add a dimension to this debate by offering a free talk about Green Spirituality to members of your organization. I can promise that my PowerPoint presentation will explore environmental problems of the world today with a special emphasis on those found in the United States. I will also focus on many multi-faith and Christian teachings which apply to current global environmental problems and world poverty. I can further promise that my talk will draw upon my 30 years experience as a green activist in areas such as climate change, recycling, inter-faith dialogue, conservation and transition towns. I am a member of the Steering group for Transition Town Leamington and can share my experiences with you about working in the TT movement in the U.K or just giving a talk about that if that is more appropriate. I have given the Green Spirituality talk to Transition Town Coventry.
