Hi - I am writing to ask for your support in creating a compassionate world. When I started the Compassionate Action Network I was hoping that social networks could be part of how we activate the will and find a way to make just and lasting change. I am grateful that you joined this network and I sincerely hope that it has made some difference in your life and your community.

It was the action part of compassionate action that got my attention. So now I invite you to be part of taking another step forward together. I ask that you take two minutes to join the 10 Year Campaign for Compassionate Cities if you haven’t already.

We need 1,000 people to join by March 15 to have the Mayor and City Council follow through on their end. If you personally join the campaign and share or send this on to others we will take a big collective step forward in building our capacity to make change happen. This is not just another petition, what you do will make a difference. You can learn more about this here

You don’t need to be a Seattle resident to join this campaign, and this idea is spreading. Campaigns have started or are starting in Vancouver, BC, Bellingham, Bellevue, Issaquah, Spokane, Portland, San Francisco, and London.

If there ever was a time to stand together and affirm that what each of us does and does not do makes a difference it is now. I ask that you find the time to add your name to the growing list of people awakening compassion in our cities and our world. Join here now

Ari...good to see you at the NICO meeting yesterday. Sorry I had to leave before it broke up, but I had a job to go to. I signed up on the Compassionate Cities Campaign after Jon Ramer did a little pitch at ICC a couple of weeks ago.

David — I just noticed that you've joined us here on the Compassionate Action Network. Welcome. How wonderful to have you with us. If you haven't done so already, please consider joining the Ten Year Campaign for Compassionate Cities. I'd love to see you become a part of this important and rewarding initiative. If we get the support of at least 1,000 people by March 15, 2010, then the City of Seattle will affirm the Charter for Compassion. My understanding is that you don't have to be from Seattle to sign on. Right now, we're at 45% of that goal. Please help us reach that 1,000 number.

Also, I just posted a wonderful music video from Amnesty International — "The Price of Silence." It's well worth viewing.
