Hi - I am writing to ask for your support in creating a compassionate world. When I started the Compassionate Action Network I was hoping that social networks could be part of how we activate the will and find a way to make just and lasting change. I am grateful that you joined this network and I sincerely hope that it has made some difference in your life and your community.

It was the action part of compassionate action that got my attention. So now I invite you to be part of taking another step forward together. I ask that you take two minutes to join the 10 Year Campaign for Compassionate Cities if you haven’t already.

We need 1,000 people to join by March 15 to have the Mayor and City Council follow through on their end. If you personally join the campaign and share or send this on to others we will take a big collective step forward in building our capacity to make change happen. This is not just another petition, what you do will make a difference. You can learn more about this here

You don’t need to be a Seattle resident to join this campaign, and this idea is spreading. Campaigns have started or are starting in Vancouver, BC, Bellingham, Bellevue, Issaquah, Spokane, Portland, San Francisco, and London.

If there ever was a time to stand together and affirm that what each of us does and does not do makes a difference it is now. I ask that you find the time to add your name to the growing list of people awakening compassion in our cities and our world. Join here now

Hi Ilene,
Thank you for your brief bio - it filled me with a special kind of excitement. We have much in common. I, too, am a mediator, and have also taken the Compassionate Listening class (the two day). I am fascinated with social emotional learning. In my work I place an emphasis on enhancing attachment, and nurturing parent child relationships. I have a specialty in infant toddler mental health, but work with children (and their parents) of all ages. I use collaborative problem solving with many of the families I work with. I love that you are extending the compassionate listening to the parenting arena. I believe these actions influence compassionate action with individuals, and families, in ways that have the potential to reach out in ever enlarging circles.

Hello Ilene.
I am very interested in the work you are doing. I live in Southern Oregon, and have an interest in providing a similar class as you are offering. I have the resources from "Hand in Hand", by Patty Wipfler. Are you familiar with her and her work? Her "Listening Partnerships for Parents" is a method or curriculum that sounds like yours. Here is her link: http://www.handinhandparenting.org/

Best wishes on your most important endeavor!

After the Charter for Compassion Event, I look forward to more activities on CAN. Hope you'll make it to Open Space on 10/17 and perhaps we can brainstorm what Charter for Compassion Event we may put on for the NW on 11/12.

Enjoy this circle!
