Honoring Christmas ~ Living Interfaith Church at Lynnwood

December 19, 2010 from 11am to 12:15pm
Christmas is one of our most beautiful holidays. We will honor it from three complementary perspectives. Guest minister, Rev. Dick Gibson, will share the joy of celebrating the birth of the Christ. A guest Islamic speaker will share the joy of celebrating one of the great prophets of God. Rev. Greenebaum will share the joy of celebrating humanity’s universal aspiration of “Peace on earth. Goodwill to all.”After the service will be our Sunday potluck and discussion. It usually goes from…See More

Honoring Hajj at Living Interfaith Church - Alderwood Middle School, Lynnwood

November 21, 2010 from 11am to 12:15pm
Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. We want both to honor and celebrate this important part of Islam. Hajj is, of course, about pilgrimage to Mecca; but its roots twine much further back in time than many realize. Sharing the pulpit with Rev. Steven Greenebaum will be Mohammad Fani. It will be a dynamic, enlightening service. I hope you can be there. And please feel free to bring a friend. A good chance, in a warm group, to learn a little bit more about Islam.Mohammad Fani is Director of…See More

Is Greed Good? ~ A Living Interfaith service at Snohomish County

October 24, 2010 from 11am to 1:15pm
"Is Greed Good?" The title of our service, of course, is taken from the movie "Wall Street." We like to think of "them" as greedy (Wall Street, bankers, whomever). Yet, in a real sense, our entire culture is based on and perhaps predicated on personal greed. "I need more." Greed is frequently called one of the "seven deadly sins." But, like beauty, it is often in the eye of the beholder. Lots to ponder!Join us for a service, at potluck with discussion afterwards. Please consider bringing a…See More

Honoring Forgiveness at Living Interfaith Church - Lynnwood

September 26, 2010 from 11am to 1:15pm
Forgiveness is a part of every spiritual path. It is a part of Islam, Christianity, First People’s Spirituality, Buddhism and Judaism, the path of the Baha’i, Humanism. And so many others as well. We’re human beings. We mess up. This need to forgive and be forgiven is universal. This Sunday, as we seek to honor Yom Kippur, we celebrate Jewish tradition, and delve deeply into the theme of forgiveness: the need to be forgiven by others, and our need to forgive. Rev. Steven Greenebaum will lead the…See More

Open Letter to People of the Islamic Faith

I drafted this letter in response to the "book burning" of the Qur'an planned in Florida. This is not a time to remain silent. The letter has been co-signed by two fellow members of the clergy here in Snohomish County. It will be published as a "letter to the editor" by the Herald, the major Snohomish County newspaper. The story has been in the "national media" but I am hoping the local press will note that we are not remaining silent!Open Letter to People of the Islamic FaithSteven Greenebaum,…See More

WELCOME TO LIVING INTERFAITH at Lynnwood, So. Snohomish County

September 12, 2010 from 11am to 1:15pm
The Living Interfaith Church officially opens its doors at 11:00 AM on Sunday, September 12th, at the Alderwood Middle School in Lynnwood. Visitors are welcome. We are Christian, Jew, Buddhist, Muslim, Humanist, Baha’i and so many other paths. We recognize that we are all brothers and sisters, and that at different times and different places we have encountered the sacred differently. No one is asked to leave his or her faith at the door. What we are asked to remember and respect is that the…See More

Thanks, Steven - sorry this took so long to respond to! I've been a bit overwhelmed trying to catch up...I'll be gone for the month of June to train with Marshall Rosenberg in Nonviolent Communication. I look forward to connecting when I get back. Namaste, Joanne

Thank you Steven for bringing your kind, compassionate presence to the process and to the event. When I saw you on Saturday, albeit briefly, it calmed me and gave me a sense of peace. Thank you for being who you are in the world!
