Leah & Susan,

Though I've not been trained through the Compassionate Listening Project, I have learned that to be compassionate requires in part to be fully present, to listen to the heart and with the heart.

I have a few ideas of activities in support of the Charter for Compassion launch during the week of Nov. 12, one of which is based on the theme of compassionate listening.

Wanted to invite you and The Compassionate Listening Project to join in the coordination of activities through this CAN group, a session at the Oct. 17th Seattle Center event and hopefully conversations with one another.

p.s. Susan, I know you're already involved with the San Fran seminar on 11/12, which actually makes your contribution even more crucial if you're interested in supporting any Charter for Compassion activities in the Northwest. Blessings~

South Seattle needs Support and Solidarity for Social Justice: Monday mid day rally

Please come downtown on Monday to show your support and solidarity!  South Seattle has suffered greatly from continuing violence - partly as a result of being under-served in all ways and over-burdened with low income housing which brings many poor people without means of supporting local businesses.  Time for ALL of Seattle to step-up and help the voice of the south end be heard!  Gather at Westlake for a rally at 11 am, march to City Hall and gather there noon to 12:30. …

Planning a day of Compassion and Service to End Violence and Build Relationships in Rainier Beach

Compassionate Seattle is partnering with SE Seattle neighbors to plan a day to meet in Rainier Beach and help several businesses by painting out entire walls and applying special anti-graffiti coating.  After working, we’ll gather for refreshment, celebration and conversation - listening to our SE neighbors to gain deeper understanding of their frustrations and challenges - and discovering ongoing ways to connect and support.

We need HELP to organize --…

Original poem written and read at Racer Cafe by host of Sunday's silent vigil

Standing Still

by Brenda  Kay Neth

In the Silence of this loss, we are standing still

There is no movement to be made.

But to accept and to see

that we are bound together.

Silenced by the silence

We reach out beyond language and pain

To find there is a world where we can live again

No answers for the violence

But to…
