Compassionate Basalt, Colorado

We're underway here in Basalt, Colorado as the second municipality to officially participate in the 10 Year Campaign for Compassionate Cities.  Our four middle school students--Stephanie Anglin, Lindsay Anderson, Chase Ellsperman, and Eli Pettet--and I are spreading the word about the Charter for Compassion and working with town employees to plan an Earth Day gathering that will build our Compassionate Action team.  The kids are SO ready to widen the circle of leadership!

God causes the disaster in Japan! Really?

The earthquake, tsunami, human devastation and nuclear crisis in Japan are God answering prayer.  Really? This bizarre interpretation is being circulated on YouTube by Pamela who says “I am so overjoyed” that God answers prayers directly. Is this pure craziness? It is the antithesis of compassion and spirituality. 

I find this this view to be highly offensive.  The video in question has been strongly rejected by many Americans.…
