More thoughts on compassion by the citizens of Davis, California USA from the corner of 3rd and C:
Compassion: Watching my wife give a homeless man my Cheese Danish.
Compassion is realizing that others are part of the same whole as oneself and wanting the best for that whole.
Compassion: Means empathising with people and their diverse experience. Being caring and understanding of others, their feelings and perspectives, and enlisting that…Continue

The Compassion Wars are here and they’re ugly. The loud cheering about health insurance and booing of gay soldiers is chilling. This is not the generous hearted spirit of America at its best. Where is the compassion that leads to hearts cracked open to discovering our common humanity and oneness with one another?
Self-compassion is a journey that leads to compassions for others. I’ve come to believe that we are each hard wired for compassion. So how does that square with what I…Continue

Members of the Nottingham-based In Kind group did their second Random Acts of Kindness event last week at the Headstock music festival in Newstead, a small town on the outskirts of Nottingham.
This was in support of getting signatures for the Charter for Compassion and for the pledge to make Nottingham a City of Compassion.
A good time was had by all.

Brian Swimme looks at compassion from a big bang/Darwinistic/evolutionary standpoint as a way to avoid another historical planetary catastrophe. Unique insights into the history of everything.

9/11’s anniversary represents a monumental call to realize our shared humanity, and collectively we are answering it. ONE: The Event’s mission is to provide collective healing of the past and inspire Solutions,…

anyone hear about this book, read it, or plan to read it? from the reviews, sounds like a great read to see how compassion must be included into current mainstream economic "theory."
The attempt to silence His Holiness the Dalai Lama is an exercise in futility akin to trying to block the flow of eternal spiritual truths. Yet this is what the government of South Africa is trying to do. Their refusal to grant him a visa to give a lecture in Cape Town in honor of his friend Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s eightieth birthday is ironic at best and, at worst, hostile to free speech and religion.
These two iconic human beings are honored in much of the world for their…Continue
