Compassionate Seattle

Salaam. This is not a news article rather a few lines to just say Eid Mubarak and Rosh Shana Tova, and to share a link to a photo album about Eid in my village Silwaad.

Since compassion is partly learning about and understanding others, here is a glimpse of how life is in a village in the West Bank.

Happy Eid & Rosh Hashana
Amineh

Thank you Maysoon Zayid Kids and Playgrounds for Palestine for your work in my village Silwaad. Yes, this is our dear friend Maysoon, the amazing Arab American comedian.
The playground hasn't been built yet. The playground in Silwaad project, like other projects in other towns in Palestine, depends on the generous spirit of volunteers and donors. Land is donated by the village. Playground is purchased from abroad and assembled and installed by village volunteers. ANERA (American Near East Refugee Aid) helps ship the equipment, transport it on the ground, and liaise with local organizations and communities.
Playing has profound physical, health and psychological benefits for children... playgrounds provide a special opportunity to children in Palestine and transform the way they play and channels their energies toward healthier playing, and away from aggressive behavior and from playing with toy guns and such... this is really a community-based peace promoting project...

These programs are worth supporting, so please add them to your list of charities to give to. To learn more about PfP, go to:

Silwad, Palestine
Silwad, located north of Ramallah, is home to approximately 8,000 Palestinians. Much of its population relies on farming and agriculture to support their families, and its climate makes it suitable for growing its famous olive and fig trees. We will be installing this playground in Maysoon's Kids, a children with disabilities center in Silwaad.
