Compassionate Seattle

Enjoy the 25th installment of entries collected from the population of Davis, California, USA:

Compassion, to me, is understanding that all things have causes... all actions have roots in the past, roots that connect us all. None of us are to blame, and yet none of us are free of responsibility. Therefore, we should care for one another, and see yourself in the other.

Compassion, co-passion, feeling together. Feeling what others feel, connected to others. Feeling part of the interconnectedness of life. How can I not feel my sister's pain? How can I not feel my brother's fear? All of us, all people and animals, brothers and sisters.

To thine own self be true. :)

Compassion: Try to imagine others' life history, now imagine that history is your own.

The realization that the barrier which separates yourself from the world is only an illusion.

Compassion, the feeling in the heart, at times can put you in the verge of tears. The moment when you care for another genuinely. And will accept them into your heart.

Compassion is the moment when you realize how similar the human experience is to everyone around you; it is the moment when you let your heart feel every emotion, and it enlivens you to think about what you should do/be in your life.

Compassion is when I see a stranger die in the emergency room and feel like a piece of me dies with him/her.

Providing orange juice for a cold sufferer.
