Comment by Jon Ramer on January 17, 2011 at 5:01pm Guelph Ontario may well be on its way to becoming a compassionate city - perhaps the first Canadian city to declare itself as compassionate. The campaign is being led by one of its city counsellors and on January 16, a sold-out event was held - coordinated by Bookshelf owner, Barb and manager, Ken, where over 600 people came to St,. George's Anglican Church to hear Karen Armstrong speak on The Charter for Compassion, as well as affirm the Charter. Canadians For Compassion was at the event to lend support and was able to speak with Karen Armstrong for five or so minutes before she had to return to Toronto for interviews scheduled as part of the book tour. More details to follow about the Guelph campaign in future on the Canadians for Compassion Group of C.A.N. and website: www.canadians4compassion.org.
CAN International Institute supports compassionate initiatives in cities, towns, counties, states and provinces, regions, nations, universities, faith groups, schools, service groups, and other places where human beings gather.
