Obama to UN General Assembly: We should be encouraging & promoting empathy!

'each side has legitimate aspirations - & that’s part of what makes peace so hard. And the deadlock will only be broken when each side learns to stand in the other’s shoes; each side can see the world through the other’s eyes. That’s what we should be encouraging. That’s what we should be promoting..

' Conflict and repression will endure so long as some people refuse to do unto others as we would have them do unto us. Yet that is precisely why we have built institutions like this -- to bind our fates together, to help us recognize ourselves in each other'

@Wave 11:11: I'd have to agree that if Israeli leaders exhibited empathy and compassion for Palestinians, they would support Palestine's recognition as a nation-state on equal footing with Israel. (And, let's face it: Israel would be returning lot's of land taken from Palestine.)

Here we go again: Truth revealing itself in many places, through many voices.  I think Obama did at least hit a true note with his call for Palestine and Israel to practice empathy and compassion.  This is THE path to peace.
